Promise Me This by Sarah Ashley Jones

Cover Design by Okay Creations.
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Welcome to the South - where the tea is sweet and the accents are sweeter. This Southern way of life is all Charlie has ever known. It’s not until she loses the only person who pushed her to break free of the Southern Belle mold that she starts living the life she needs and not the life her parents forced on her.

Jhett has lived on the edge for as long as he could remember - constantly teetering back and forth between being a rock star and living a normal life. His rebellious and sometimes arrogant attitude is known to get him into trouble, especially with the girls who hang on his every move.

Charlie never thought that a trip to pack up her brother’s apartment would leave her feeling even more unsettled about the grainy details of her brother’s death. Her quest for information leads her straight to his old hangout and into arms of Jhett, who suspiciously knows more about her situation than he ever should.

Only a few questions remain - Can you trust someone based on their word alone? And if you make a promise, how far will you go to keep it?

About The Author

Sarah Ashley Jones was raised in San Diego, California, but currently wrangles her husband and four dogs in Clarksville, Tennessee. When she's not writing she works in a pottery studio and comes home covered in paint on a daily basis. She has a slightly unhealthy obsession with cupcakes and chapstick. She is an eternal optimist and can often be found dancing and singing to music at any given time. It's rare to see her not smiling or laughing, but if you do, just bring her a cupcake and it will cheer her up.

Promise Me This is her first novel and is a story that weaseled its way into her heart and wouldn't leave her alone until she typed it up on the computer. She already is hard at work on ideas for her next book and hopes that the
characters never stop coming to her. Her huge imagination was always in overdrive as a child and now she is beyond excited to put it to good use as an adult. She plans to write as long as she has stories that need to be told.

EXCERPT:

Music began to trickle through the backyard. Hannah found the outside stereo system and led me out into the grass. The backyard was strung with white lights that draped above us, which illuminated the trees that grew in the corners of the yard. Jhett watched from the porch while Hannah and I jumped around to the beats on the radio. I was fixated on him while I danced; he always seemed to draw me in, no matter how far apart we were.
“Thank you,” I mouthed to him. I knew Ginger wasn’t the only reason why Hannah had come.
“You love him, don’t you?” she whispered in my ear as our bodies still swayed in time to the beat.
Hannah’s question caused a fire to rise through my toes and up into my chest. I never thought about what loving Jhett would be like. I only knew that I didn’t want to find out what life was like without him.
“I knew it!” she accused me. My response was a short, knowing smile and nod in her direction. “He loves you, too, you know.”
I turned to Hannah and searched her eyes; I wanted to find the truth to her theory. There was a longing in them that told me she was envious, which made me wonder - was she right?

Just Breathe by Rachel Brooks Review and Interview!

A few weeks ago when I was on vacation I got a lovely email from Rachel asking if I would be interested in reading and reviewing her debut novel Just Breathe. I was already excited for this book just from adding it on Goodreads and reading the little teasers that she would post here and there so of course I said yes!! Oh, wow, was I in for a ride :)

Synopsis
Title: Just Breathe
Author: Rachel Brookes
Release Date: 5th July 2013
Genre: New Adult

For Savannah Rae, living life without her parents was unimaginable. But being blamed for her first love’s suicide? That destroyed every part of who she was.

Gone were the days of innocence, happiness, and dreams. Now her days simply meant attempting to survive. In her mind, her only means for that was replacing her grief with men, booze and the fast life. And for five years, it worked.

When an opportunity to leave the nightmares of her past in Australia opens up, she takes it. Los Angeles beckons - with hopes of late nights, new beginnings, and the promise of a string of endless men to distract her, she can’t wait to dive in.

One thing she didn’t count on was meeting her match.

In the eyes of outsiders, Tate Connors has it all; the ultimate LA bachelor who is content with his lifestyle of wild nights, women and one night stands. He's Mr. Unpredictable with looks that could destroy any woman with one glance.

The craziness of Los Angeles throws them into the chaotic path of each other. Savannah becomes the perfect game, and Tate becomes the ultimate prey. Lines are crossed, emotions are smashed, and the idea of who they truly are begins to be tangled.

However, one thing will become clear.
They are more alike than either one could ever have imagined.

My Review

Okay, let me start by saying that this book sucked me right in. I loved Sav. So often the female characters annoy me. I hate their reactions to their alpha man, but Rachel did a great job at staying true to character with Sav, and I am a sucker for a strong female lead.

I loved the relationships in this book because they were so true to life and believable. They interacted as I would interact with my friends and I loved that.

And Tate. What can one say about Tate? Hmmmm. Yummy yummy. I loved LOVED Tate. He was just so, man.

My favorite part was that their pasts played a huge role in the story and I thought that Rachel did an excellent job at using that to its full potential.

You really need to read it to understand and let me tell you, you wont regret it. So go 1-click and get started immediately. This is one you don't want to miss!

A little about Rachel:

Rachel Brookes is from a coastal town on the east coast of Australia where beaches, kangaroos and surfers roam free. She writes angst ridden love stories with a pinch of craziness, a dash of drama, a cup of romance, a spoonful of sexiness and the main ingredient hot guys. Rachel sometimes forgets to eat, sometimes forgets to sleep and sometimes can’t remember the last time she cleaned her apartment but that’s because she is in a long term relationship with her laptop and they are constantly writing together.  When she does step away from her laptop she can be found taking too many photos, making scrumptious cocktails, laughing at Adam Sandler movies and spending her time with her amazing family and friends. With her first novel, Just Breathe, due to be released in July 2013, her dream of releasing a book will become reality. With another three books already taking up her mind, she cannot wait to start this crazy ride.

Here is the mini interview that I got the opportunity to do with her:

The characters pasts plays a huge role in this story. How did you come up with the storyline?

The story just hit me one day. It is influenced by some real life events but majority is a creation of my imagination. I wanted a story that showed that life is an emotional rollercoaster and sometimes things happen to the best people that make you question everything. Life is about sink or swim moments. The meaning of the story is to show people that even when life isn’t going to plan, you’ve still got to have hope that things will get better if you give it a chance and that’s how Just Breathe came about. I hope that’s what readers get out of it.
What was your favorite scene to write?

I loved writing the Santa Monica pier scene. I think that was the moment in the story where we really got to see a part of Tate that had been kept hidden, an emotion and vulnerability of a guy so desperate to impress a girl. Another scene that I loved writing was the scene at the bar with the argument over cocktails Tate was going to serve to Savannah. I loved that is showed Savannah’s quick wit and sass, they are my favourite characteristics of Sav.

What was the hardest for you to write?

I think the hardest to write were the scenes where Tate and Sav spoke of their pasts. It was so pivotal for the story so I concentrated super hard on them to make sure they came across realistic. It was the moment where their pasts met their present and would ultimate affect their futures. I hope I did it justice.

Was it tough writing the novel being based in America?

Google literally became my new best friend and I have a great critique partner in the states who helped me along the way. It was tough because there are so many similarities between Australia and the US but so so so many differences. I always knew it had to be set in America though as it added an extra layer to the story; the thought of a broken girl being thrown into the unknown of a new country would make her either sink or swim and would show her true character. It was fun being Australian and American at the same time though.

What is your favorite thing about Tate?

He is cocky and egotistical but then he shows softness towards Tanzi and protectiveness towards Sav. Its roll a dice with Tate, you just never know what you are going to get.

Thank you so much Rachel for allowing me to read and review your book. You are truly talented and I cant wait to read whatever is next!

Learning to Live Cover Reveal

Guys, today on the blog I've got a beautiful cover reveal for the novel Learning to Live from debut author Robin Cole. I think you're going to like it. Its just so pretty!

First a little about this book. It looks like its going to be a great read.

Synopsis

Being alive and living are not always the same.

Trudy Love is used to being on her own and has rarely been shown affection. Between growing up in foster care and her abusive boyfriend she has no idea what life can be. At 19 she goes through something no one should ever experience and is left alone once again. Six months later she moves to Mobile, Alabama where she meets someone whose eyes bring back memories of the one person she misses everyday. Too late she finds herself caught in a storm of emotions that are unwanted, but she's determined to fight them off.

Jaxon Coleman has a good life, and for him to attend one of the finest Med schools in the country and follow in his dad's foot steps is a dream come true. However, dreams can change in life and when he meets Trudy he knows his will never be the same. Jax knows she has secrets she is unwilling to share, but he's never given up on something he wants and he wants Tru.

Can Trudy stop resisting her feelings and welcome the chance to live a different life than she pictured or will her defiance and haunted past eventually take her out of Jax's reach?

After tragedy living is not easy, but with the right person it can be learned.

You should probably add it to Goodreads! I know you wanna!

Here is a little bit about Robin:

My name is Robin and I live in Grand Bay, Alabama. I grew up an army brat and traveled a lot until we finally settled down along the Gulf Coast. I guess you could call me a cougar since my husband is 9 years younger. I have a little girl who is 9 and is blind as well as autistic. My life is not boring with them two. Believe me.
I have always loved creating and I would constantly draw on my walls. I love painting and reading. Writing is something I wanted to do but didn’t think I could, until I woke up at three a.m. a few months back and started writing. Life has a way of throwing rocks at you and putting cracks in your soul. Either you can duck and cover or you can make something beautiful from the cracks.
After that, the story took over. Even though some pieces of my life experience are within it, it is Tru and Jax’s story now. I have truly fell in love with this story and hope you all do too.

And of course the cover!!!

So pretty!

About the Author

Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She is represented by Bob Diforio of D4EO Literary Agency.

Fixed on You Excerpt

I moved to the door and placed my hand on the knob. But Hudson’s palm pressed on the top of the door, holding it closed and trapping me between him and the wall.
He lowered his head to my ear. “Wait, Alayna.” His breath tickled and burned simultaneously. I closed my eyes, taking it in, bearing it. “I apologize for overwhelming you. That wasn’t my intent. But I want you to know that whether or not you decide to help with my situation, I will continue to seduce you. I’m a man who gets what he wants. And I want you.”
Um, holy wow.
Turned on did not begin to describe how his statement made me feel.
Then his mouth was on me, nibbling at my earlobe. I drew in a sharp breath. Involuntarily, I let my head roll to the side, granting him better access.
And, man, did he take what I gave, nipping a trail down my neck, sending ripples of desire through my belly. I moved my hand off the doorknob and grabbed his arm to steady myself. He curled his other arm around me, his hand settling on my breast. I gasped at the contact, leaning in to his touch.
He kneaded my breast as he nuzzled his face in my hair. “I should have told you earlier,” he said softly. “You look absolutely beautiful tonight. I can’t keep my eyes off you. Serious and sexy wrapped into one package.” He pressed against me and I could feel his erection at my lower back. “Kiss me, Alayna.”
It was so hot how he used my name freely. As if it was his to use. And in many ways it was. Almost no one called me anything but Laynie. He’d claimed my name when he claimed me.
All that was left was for me to accept it.
